by Lauren Rearick / Monday, 08 October 2018

LISA O’CONNOR

As you continue to contemplate your Halloween 2018 costume of choice, Pinterest has revealed what looks are the most popular among their users.

According to the 2018 “Pinfrights” Report, the most boo-tiful searches this year include celestial-inspired makeup, costume and makeup ideas for Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, ideas for how to become an IRL pumpkin, makeup that looks like an optical illusion, and fairy makeup.

Along with these popular pins, the Pinterest Report also detailed an interest in users to create nails that look stitched like Frankenstein, eyeliner that gives the illusion of spider webs, and nails that look bewitching. You can read the complete report over on Pinterest, and maybe pick up a few costume ideas. Additionally, we’ve gathered some of the most popular searches below with tips and products that will help bring your creepiest creations to life.

Looking to capture the stars above with your beauty routine? All things galaxy-inspired have made a frequent appearance on many recent red carpets, and the look can easily be achieved for Halloween. Go for lots of glitter on your lids, and consider a cat eye to get a really fun look. As this YouTuber suggests, you want to apply plenty of setting spray to your face and then add in your favorite glitter of choice to create the illusion of stars.

Pumpkin Makeup

This look takes a cue from your favorite Halloween porch dwellers. Pumpkin makeup can be spooky or sweet, and many MUAs go with full-face paint or just a touch of pumpkin to the lids. This YouTuber used the shading and shapes of a jack-o-latern as inspiration, while this look combined skeleton elements with lots of sparkle. To get the look, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of orange hues in your cosmetic bag, and you may also want to throw in some green for good measure.

Spider Web Eyeliner

Looking for a more subtle spook? Spider web eyeliner is a perfect option for those who want to have a little fun with their costume. This YouTuber provides an easy tutorial to follow, and uses many products likely already found in your makeup bag. Choose colorful and creepy shades as an eyeshadow base, add a top coat of glittery shadow, and then get to work on your web. Using a fine tipped black liner, you’ll want to create extended lines to make the base of your web. Go back in and then connect them. You can thicken the lines after your finish or use your concealer to hide any mistakes.

Stitched Nails

Stitched nails are a cute, but also creepy way of bringing a touch of Frankenstein to your Halloween beauty routine. There’s no rules when it comes to choosing the perfect color for this mani, but you could always choose a nice gruesome green or a pumpkin orange. To get the look, you need to first apply a base coat of color as your nail color foundation. Follow that up with a tiny line painted across each nail. Then go back in with a fine point brush and add stitches. And just like Frankenstein’s stiching, your nails can also be a little messy for this one. Don’t worry about perfect stitches or straight lines.
