MTV Movie Awards 2018 Best Red Carpet Hair and Makeup Looks

by Karina Hoshikawa / Wednesday, 20 June 2018

The MTV Movie and TV Awards are here, and with that, all of your favorite celebs hitting the red carpet in next-level hair and makeup looks that are totally perfect for the summer: Easy beachy waves? Glowy skin? Shiny lip gloss? Check, check, and check.

However, the Los Angeles red carpet proved to be so much more than a warm-weather beauty checklist; Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes turned up the glow with fresh, dewy complexions and effortlessly wavy ‘dos, while fellow cast member (and MTV “Scene-Stealer” award nominee) Madelaine Petsch gave us a new take on Old Hollywood hair and makeup. And Zendaya, being Zendaya, stunned in a gorgeous take on cocoa eyeshadow — a choice that totally complemented her “Hershey Kiss-but-make-it-fashion” look.

Scroll down to see all of our favorite hair and makeup moments from the big night. And while you’re at it, start dreaming about all the DIY-able looks you’ll be recreating at home — after all, the summer’s just getting started.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi‘s metallic sapphire eyeshadow by Emily Cheng for Pat McGrath Labs — winged out to perfection — is the perfect pop of color and subtly echoes her baby blue ‘fit. (And it’s so easy to DIY!)
Madelaine Petsch

Madelaine Petsch

Madelaine Petsch coordinates her dress with shimmery pink eyeshadow and a sharp cat-eye, while a deep side-parted loose hairstyle gives us Old Hollywood vibes — in the best way. Try Sigma Beauty’s Liquid Pen Eyeliner to get a similar look.
Alisha Boe

VALERIE MACON

Alisha Boe

13 Reasons Why actor Alisha Boe‘s center-parted waves styled by Johnnie Sapong for Leonor Greyl perfectly show off her caramel balayage highlights, while long lashes and a rosy nude lip courtesy of makeup artist Beau Nelson complete her look.
Zendaya

Alberto E. Rodriguez

Zendaya

Zendaya never met a red carpet she couldn’t totally own. For the MTV Awards, she makes a splash with a slicked-back hairstyle courtesy of Ursula Stephen for GHD and Tresemmé reminiscent of summer days spent poolside — only chicer. Smoky chocolate shadow, a touch of blush, and glossy lips perfectly pair back to her August Getty dress.
Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart

Want the secret behind Lili Reinhart‘s perfectly tousled blonde lob? Try misting some texturizing spray into roots, and use a flatiron to create “flat” waves that look totally lived-in. As for her makeup, Adam Breuchaud for Pat McGrath Labs was all about bringing “definition and glow,” which manifested in the form of a gorgeous bronze eye.
Vanessa Morgan

Vanessa Morgan

Toni, is that you? Seriously, Vanessa Morgan‘s red shadow looks straight out of her Riverdale character’s beauty book — and we are so here for it.
Sadie Sink

Alberto E. Rodriguez

Sadie Sink

Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink isn’t afraid to play with glitter. Here, she adds a subtle pop to her lids by way of sparkly silver eyeliner — try Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Glamrock for a similar look.
Camila Mendes

Alberto E. Rodriguez

Camila Mendes

Camila Mendes proves that some beauty signatures — winged eyeliner, a soft, half-up ‘do, and flawless brows courtesy of Kayleen McAdams for Pat McGrath Labs and John Frieda hairstylist David Stanwell — are truly all you need to rock any red carpet. Veronica would definitely approve.
Zazie Beetz

Frazer Harrison

Zazie Beetz

Deadpool 2‘s Zazie Beetz turns up the glam in a major way with her voluminous curls and smoky bronze eyeshadow, both every bit as fierce as her crime-fighting alter-ego, Domino.
Katherine Langford

Frazer Harrison

Katherine Langford

Katherine Langford channels evil twin vibes with a fierce AF cat-eye (created by Stephen Sollito using Pat McGrath Labs and Lashify) an onyx veil worn in her hair. To DIY her razor-sharp navy eyeliner look, use a micro-fine tip pencil like Stila’s Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Midnight Blue and extend the shape along the upper and lower lash lines from the inner corner to the outer V.
Amandla Stenberg

Jon Kopaloff

Amandla Stenberg

We love Amandla’s take on subtle burgundy eyeshadow, paired to perfection with a super-long high ponytail.
