HOW TO: Emoji Halloween makeup tutorial

by superdrug.com / Monday, 23 October 2017

You can’t go wrong with a good ol’ bit of face paint on Halloween, especially when kids are involved. So we asked makeup artist Roseanna Velin to show you how to create this awesome emoji look at home. It’s perfect for any little’ uns you might be planning to take trick-or-treating and – let’s be honest – who doesn’t love a good emoji?

1. Emoji basics

Dab yellow face paint all over the face using a sponge, then neaten the edges with a brush.

Step1

2. Bold and brown

Cover the eyelids with brown face paint, then take the yellow face paint closer to the eyes using a small brush.

Step 3

3. Exaggerated brows

Paint on high bold brows with the brown paint and small brush.

Step 3

4. Happy tears

Create tears under the eyes using a small brush and blue face paint. To make the tears look brighter, dab blue eyeshadow from the Makeup Revolution Salvation Bright Eyeshadow Palette in Chaos on top.

Step4

5. Smile like you mean it

Create a wide smile by outlining the shape of big lips with the brown paint and a small, fine brush.

Step5

6. Colour inside the lines

Fill the top lip with white face paint and the bottom lip with brown face paint.

Step6

7. Let’s go bolder

For a cartoon effect, use MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner Pencil in Rich Brown and a small brush to outline the tears and make them pop.

Step7

8. Frame the face

Use an orange eyeshadow from the Makeup Revolution Palette Pro HD Total Shimmer 35 in Direction to outline the face. This will complete the look and make it appear more emoji-esque!
