Amanda Seyfried’s Makeup Artist Turned the Star’s Eye Infection Into a Look at the Mamma Mia 2 Premiere
Welcome to the future, where even an eye infection can be chic. Amanda Seyfried is in Stockholm to premiere her new movie, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, but was afflicted with an unfortunately timed eye infection right before the red carpet. With the help of makeup artist Mary Greenwell, however, Seyfried found a way to rock a puffy, red eye and look as beautiful as ever.
While most people would have tried to mask the eye infection as much as possible and hope no one noticed, Seyfried and Greenwell went in a completely different direction: They owned the predicament, creating a makeup design that would complement it. “Eye infection vs. @marygreenwell’s makeup design,” Seyfried captioned a pre-premiere selfie on Instagram. “Here we come Stockholm fans — Mamma Mia is in Abba Country!”
Greenwell also posted a shot of Seyfried on the red carpet paired with the sweetest note about the situation. “I just want to say how wonderful Amanda is,” she wrote. “While most people would hide from the camera, here she is looking as beautiful as ever with make up purposefully created to work WITH Amanda’s eye infection. I love this so much.” And, lucky for all of us, Greenwell also shared details on all of the products she used to create the look.
According to her Instagram, Greenwell first primed Seyfried with proper skincare, using Sisley Paris Hydra-Global Serum](http://www.sisley-paris.com/en-US/3473311266507.html){: rel=nofollow} and Botanical Eye and Lip Contour Balm. For foundation, she used Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer and concealed with Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer and Secret Camouflage Concealer. Sensai Beauty powder blush, which will be released August 1, graced the actor’s cheeks, and a touch of Guerlain bronzer and setting powder added an extra glow. On her lips, Seyfried wore Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Pillow Talk and Sisley Phyto Lip Twist No. 1.
Most importantly, Greenwell created an unexpected eye look that incorporated the under eye redness Seyfried was experiencing. For the smokey effect, Greenwell used Fenty Beauty Morroccan Spice Palette and Sensai Beauty 38C Black Mascara. A Laura Mercier brow pencil completed the look.
It’s not every day that an ailment becomes makeup goals. And to be totally clear: We’re not saying you should go out and try to get any eye infection. But Seyfried demonstrated that you don’t have to let unforeseen circumstances (get it?) get in the way of your good time.
