7 Ways to Use Coconut Oil in Your Beauty Routine

by Stephanie Saltzman / Tuesday, 14 November 2017
Say goodbye to dry skin, split ends and harsh eye makeup remover.

Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for “makeup tutorial” and “hair tutorial” yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what’s best.

The benefits of coconut oil have been widely discussed (and even meme-ified) over the last several years. And while it’s recently come to light that consuming the tropical ingredient is perhaps not as healthy as we once thought, it remains an excellent addition to your beauty routine, especially if you’re trying to combat dry skin or split ends while avoiding heavily fragranced, highly processed, additive-laden products.

That’s where this tutorial from beauty influencer Marianna Hewitt comes in. In the video, she explains seven different coconut oil beauty hacks. While some of the ingredient’s beauty uses are straightforward (using it as an all-over body moisturizer or an overnight hair mask), others may surprise you; Hewitt substitutes coconut oil for her eye makeup remover and even shaving cream.
